KU Conducts Humorous Declamation Contest

The students of Institute of Space Science and Technology of the University
of Karachi on Thursday won the inter-departmental humorous declamation
contest held at the KU.

In all 44 students belonging to different faculties of the KU took part in
the declamation contest.  The contest was held at the Audio Visual Centre
of the Arts and Social Science faculty in both the Urdu and English
languages.

Humorous speeches both in English and Urdu equally entertained the audience.

In the English contest, the student of Faculty of Pharmacy Aleeza Fatima
secured first position, Kinza Shujaat of ISST bagged second, whereas Anwish
Khalid also from ISST clinched third position.

In the Urdu contest, Kashif Hussain of Department of Public Administration
bagged first position, Muneeba Saeed of ISST secured second position, while
Mustaqeem Zahid of Department of Physics clinched third position.  The team
trophy of the contest was clinched by the ISST. Kanza Shujaet and Muneeba
Saeed lifts team trophy for English and Urdu respectively.

Meanwhile, Advisor to the KU Vice-Chancellor on Students’ Affairs Dr Syed
Asim Ali said that the students of the university in the present era were
lucky enough as KU’s administration had been constantly conducting
extra-curricular activities for them in accordance with the vision of the
VC Professor Dr Muhammad Ajmal Khan.

He said that such programmes had been helpful in highlighting and
activating hidden talent and abilities of the students of the university.

The judge of the English declamation contest Noor-us-Saba Tauqeer said that
this was first time such massive participation had been witnessed in a
humorous declamation contest held anywhere in Pakistan.

This showed that KU had a very bright future ahead as far as declamation
contests are concerned, said the judge of the speech competition.

The judge of Urdu declamation contest Adnan Akhtar said that lately he had
observed that students of the KU had started winning declamation contests
held at the national level.  He said that after attending this humorous
declamation contest he had come to the conclusion that students of the KU
had been getting proper training for such speech competitions.
