KU Syndicate by-elections on January 31
The by-elections to the Syndicate of the University of Karachi under the
University Act 1972, from the University Teachers Constituency of Lecturer
would be held on January 31, 2019 at the Arts Auditorium, KU.
The Registrar, KU, Professor Majid Mumtaz, who is also the returning
Officer of the by-elections, mentioned that last date for submission of
nomination (to be submitted to the Registrar) is January 22.
He said that last date for withdrawal of candidate is January 28 while the
final list of candidature would be issued on January 28 at 4pm. According
to him, lectures, who are on study or foreign service leaves or on
deputation, would not be eligible to contest in the elections regardless
they are present in the city on voting day.
He further said that voting would take place from 09:30am to 1pm and
election would be held through secret ballot. The counting process would
take place immediately after the closing of polling and the result would be
announced soon after counting process is completed.
KU to observe University Day on Jan18
Orientation classes for new entrants on same day
The University of Karachi would observe Youm-e-Jamia (University Day) on
January 18, 2019. All the faculty members, employees and students would
gather at the Silver Jubilee Gate, KU, at 08:30am to be a part of the
procession which would enter the varsity with the recitation of Holy Quran
by the Huffaz-e-Quran.
The Vice Chancellor, KU, Professor Dr Muhammad Ajmal Khan, former vice
chancellors, deans, members of Syndicate and Senate, President of
Unikarians International Aijaz Ahmed Farooqui and other dignitaries would
participate in the program.
The activities of the University Day would start from the Silver Jubilee
Gate, KU, and would be conclude at the Lawn in front of the New
Administration Building, KU, where dignitaries would address the gathering.
Moreover, like previous year, the orientation classes for new entrants in
all departments are schedule on the same day that is January 18, 2019.
