Faruqi inaugurated Professor Ejaz Faruqi Block at the Department of
Chemistry, KU, on Friday.
The eminent educationalist and former president Art Council and Karachi
City Cricket Association, Professor Faruqi while sharing his views at the
recently renovated departmental auditorium said that every request of
administration and management of the Karachi University is like an order to
him.
“I personally believe that credit of my success goes to Karachi University
and all those who think like me, always try to participate in development
of the University of Karachi.” He asked the students that they must plan to
serve the University of Karachi after completing their education.
He said that this is like a liability which we should return whenever
possible. He further said that person’s body language reflects their
background that’s why we must be careful when we talk and what we talk.
Meanwhile, the KU VC Professor Dr Muhammad Ajmal Khan, while appreciating
Professor Faruqi support, said that Karachi University needs persons like
him who would like to come forward and help the University.
He said that the University of Karachi despite its financial issues
striving hard for betterment of the students and we all know that grants
provided to Karachi University is not sufficient enough to fulfill its need.
“This University needs support of friends of Karachi and philanthropists to
bring further improvement and development at the University of Karachi as
this is everyone’s University and future of thousand of youngsters depends
upon how we treated them and what kind of facilities are provided to them.”
He also appreciated role of the Chairman, Department of Chemistry, KU,
Professor Dr Majid Mumtaz, who decided to engaged alma mater, to complete
necessary work at the department is absence of funds.
“His practical approach work perfectly and we all are now witnessing the
result. Dr Majid Mumtaz and his team have worked tirelessly to make it
possible.”
Professor Dr Majid Mumtaz informed the audience that whole project which
includes construction of new block and renovation of departmental
auditorium was completed in six months only.
“With new classrooms and computer lab and library we would be able to
overcome at one of the major problems we were facing for past several
years.” He said that students would now have access to national and
international science journals.
